Leverage and Margin at FxPro. UAE Entity Differences
75%+ of retail investor accounts lose money trading CFDs.
Margin basics
Margin = notional ÷ leverage. A 1:100 position needs 1% collateral; a 5% adverse move can wipe the slot on tight stops.
Stop-out
If equity falls below maintenance margin, positions auto-close at market, often at the worst moment in fast gold or NFP spikes.
UAE context
Many Dubai traders chase 1:500 marketing; verify your actual entity in FxPro Direct before sizing positions in USD from an AED salary.
Worked example: one lot of EURUSD
At EURUSD 1.1133 (28 October 2026) one standard lot is 100,000 euros, about 111,330 US dollars. The margin the platform holds depends on the leverage your entity gives you. The dirham is pegged at 3.6725 per dollar.
| Leverage | Margin in USD | Margin in AED |
|---|---|---|
| 1:30 | about 3,711 | about 13,630 |
| 1:100 | about 1,113 | about 4,089 |
| 1:500 | about 223 | about 818 |
Leverage does not change what a pip is worth: one lot of EURUSD still moves about 10 dollars per pip. It only lowers the collateral, so a smaller balance can hold the same position, and a smaller move against you can reach stop-out.
Sizing from an AED balance
A common habit is to risk no more than 1 to 2 percent of the balance on one trade. With 10,000 AED (about 2,723 US dollars) and a 1 percent limit, the loss at your stop should stay near 27 dollars. On EURUSD with a 20 pip stop that is about 0.13 lots, whatever leverage the account shows. This is arithmetic, not advice.
FAQ
Can I change leverage later?
